Specializations

International Banking and Finance

This course provides the synthesis of financial policy into a grand strategy which integrates organizational purpose and goals. The focus of the course is on current thinking regarding valuation of the firm, investment decision processes, financing, and dividend policy, asset management, and financial strategies and portfolio theory.

Financial institutions, be they commercial and investment banks or other finance operators, are historically the largest employers for MBA students. Students choosing this specialization typically work as financial, investment, or credit analysts in corporations, investment firms, or financial institutions. Graduates commonly start either as financial analysts for corporations or as associates of corporate treasury departments.

As financial analysts, they are often responsible for conducting analysis and providing recommendations on capital investments and financing alternatives; the analysis of new marketing and product programs; generation and analysis of division and corporate performance measures; preparation and coordination of annual budgets and financial forecasts; analyzing and reporting on product and customer profitability; and the analysis of acquisition candidates. In a corporate treasury department, common duties include: financial planning for the corporation; structuring and arranging medium and long-term financing including bank loans and public securities issues; arranging funding for company capital projects; and assistance with the acquisition and disposition of corporate assets.

Marketing Management

Marketing is one of the most practical, interesting, and important areas of concentration at IMT Dubai. MBA students with a specialization in Marketing acquire skills in analyzing and using existing data to make effective marketing decisions. Students learn theories and practices about how products, services and ideas are developed, distributed, priced and promoted by a variety of organizations.

Marketing specialization will qualify students for a variety of positions. Career paths include Advertising, Brand Management, Marketing strategy, Marketing Research, and Sales and Distribution Management. It also prepares the students to work in specialized industries like Retail, Services, Logistics and Distribution and Marketing Research and Advertising.

Project Management

The project management field of specialization opens a number of operational, hands-on, career opportunities. This concentration is focused on providing decision-making skills suited to today's information- and technology-intensive environments. This flexible concentration takes a strategic and applications-oriented view of operations. In addition to the core courses, electives are offered in supply chain management, project management, operations strategy, service management, and quality management.

The IMT graduates with a concentration in project management are well prepared to work in industry as supply chain analysts, project managers, logistics planners, or as managers of manufacturing or service operations. Consulting firms (e.g. KPMG, Booz Allen Hamilton, McKinsey, etc.) have high regard for the quantitative, analytical skills that accompany the area of supply chain management. This concentration is particularly valuable when combined with marketing or finance skills.

Human Resources

This course is designed to enable future HR professionals with the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to contribute in both the strategic and tactical management of organization’s Human Resources.

The emphasis during the course is on the various aspects of Human Resources i.e. Human Resource Planning, Job analysis, Recruitment and Selection, Training and Development, Performance Management, Compensation and Benefits, Strategic Human Resource Management and Change Management; all of which are essential for effective HR management within organizations.  A variety of teaching methods ensure that the students apply their learning by means of classroom exercises, case studies, group discussions and role plays.

The Human Resource Management specialization provides an opportunity to the students to analyze the contribution of HRM to the achievements of the organization’s objective and evaluate ways in which an organization structure and culture may contribute to the HR performance.

Students choosing this specialization typically work as HR Generalists, Recruitment / Training / Compensation specialists or a Strategic business partners.
